I’m a Brazilian ant ecologist exploring temperate lands.
As a researcher, I’m interested in understanding the role of one of the most abundant groups of animals in the world, the ants, in ecosystem functioning. Additionally, I aim to uncover how human activities influence ant communities and, consequently, the ecological processes they support.
At the University of Regensburg, I am part of the Cognitive Control project, where we are developing innovative strategies to manage invasive Argentine ants (Linepithema humile). My work focuses on testing the effectiveness of psychoactive baits under field conditions in Spain, with the goal of improving traditional control methods. In addition to management strategies, we also investigate the ecological impacts of these ants on ecosystem functioning, aiming to restore balance and support the recovery of native biodiversity in affected areas.
