Long-term postdoctoral researcher

5 year post-doc position

please note that this position cannot be made permanent

Advanced postdoctoral researcher in insect behaviour

We are looking for an experienced researcher to broaden the methodological or conceptual horizons of the ACElab.

The ACElab has been broadening its' research interests, and is looking for a long-term postdoctoral researcher to support this growth. We have several projects which need to be driven forward, including one on insect welfare, and one on pollinator biology and learning. The ACElab is generally moving in the direction of applied entomology, too. This position is not linked to a particular research project: the candidate will be expected to lead one of the projects we have planned, but with ample room to develop a completely independent research agenda.

Topics and research areas which are especially welcome are:

  • Arthropod cognition

  • Arthropod welfare

  • Applied entomology

  • Pollinator biology

We are especially interested in candidates who can bring advanced computational methods to the group, such as modern machine vision approaches and advanced statistical analysis.

Please note: we are more interested in skills, knowledge, and what the candidate can bring to the team, and less interested in "high impact" publications.

The successful candidate will be able to design their own research space (within limits), and will be supported if they require specialist equipment for their research.

The candidate will be required to take on a significant teaching role (4 SWS), with a focus on Ecology practicals and seminars. The candidate is also expected to support the organisation of the workgroup. The ability to teach in German is an advantage, but not a strict requirement.

The successful candidate will be employed at full time researcher rates for Germany (§ 2 Abs. 1 WissZeitVG, TV-L E13, 100%), 4100-6000 euro gross per month depending on years of qualifying experience. The position is limited to 5 years.

This advertisement is not legally binding. The official advertisement (German only) will be published when available.
